Go Titans!
What a beautiful day for a soccer game! Katie had fun as usual and her team did a great job. It has been fun watching her this season as she is starting to grasp the concept a little more. Her coaches are fantastic and we received news today that her team has been named Core Values Team of the Month. This is an award voted on by parents, coaches and YMCA personnel and is given out once a season. So, out of 120 coaches and 1300 players, our little Titans won! I am so proud of them and the coaches that we have. My absolute favorite thing about soccer practice is when there is an airplane break - if there is an airplane flying overhead and a player sees it, the coaches and all the players lay down on the ground and watch it as it flies over. I love that our coaches realize that there is more to life than soccer practice (especially to 4 and 5 year olds). Unfortunately the picture above does not have all of the kids in it, but it's the best team shot I have.

Wow! Lisa what a great post about the team and their award. Its nice to know that at least one of the parents understands that. Soccer is about having fun, but to a child there are other things that are just as important if not more. We love all the time we get to spend with the kids, but those are the times we enjoy the most. Coming down to their level and seeing the world they do. It helps us relate to them better and of course provides them with more fun as well as makes them feel more comfortable. I had heard that most parents didnt really know what was going on during those times, especially the ones that were not with us last year. We do our best to stay in their world during the practices and games, as opposed to trying to get them to live in ours. That is why I have no problem with Katie and Olivia holding hands on the field. If thats what is fun for them, then thats what I want them to do. I just tell them not to leave me out and hold my hand sometimes too. :o) Life is too short. They will have to live in our crazy world soon enough. My philosophy is to let them be the kids that they are, and come down to their world and experience the fun. Its a blast being a kid. My wife always tells me Im just a big kid. Im ok with that.
