Night Owl
Well, I can definitely tell it is summer because I am still awake at 12:30am for the third night in a row. I forgot how much I can get done when everyone is asleep...funny thing is I'm not doing anything but playing on the computer. I could be cleaning, but who wants to stay up and do that?!?!
I got really frustrated with this thing tonight (the computer, not the blog) because I had a request to add a field to a web form that I created a year ago. I had never done one before that and I haven't done one since, so I had to relearn the coding and it was not cooperating. I even upgraded the software which was completely unneccesary (I will be invoicing for that) because they did not really change any of the features since last year (and really made it more difficult for me to customize the forms for which they had templates). After several tries and probably a couple of hours I finally figured out where my problems were and got it done. Every time I get a request to update the site I cringe because it is just a hobby to me and I don't keep up with things like that on a day to day basis. However, I do enjoy it so I'm glad to have that little creative outlet to keep my computer skills and web design somewhat up to date.
The good news of the day is that Derek is finally getting somewhat back to normal. He still has a lot of congestion, but he is feeling better. We went to Katz's for dinner - it was really yummy. The kids love going there because they get to eat breakfast for dinner. I love the free pickles. Just kidding, the food really is good so there's more to it than the free pickles.
One more thing - Amy, the kids and I were running errands this morning and we were driving south on I-45. I usually don't notice billboards since they change so infrequently - you have the ones that Katie always calls out - Hannah Montana (which is actually a billboard for an adult club) and Cinderella (which is an ad for Cindie's, another adult store) - so glad that my 4 year old notices all the strippers on the billboards and compares them to what should be decent rolemodels. However, this story is not about that. We were driving along and I see this huge picture of Michael Nacol (I think Jen and maybe my parents and sisters if they actually read this are probably the only ones who might know who that is) along with his name and I think something about being in an 18-wheeler accident (he's an attorney). So you are wondering why am I bringing this up (not sure, but it's now 1am and I just thought of it again). Michael went to our little tiny high school (Jen and I graduated with 37 other people), Second Baptist in Houston and his sister Holly was one of my best friends. During my junior year I went on a ski trip with my church youth group and Michael went with us (Holly was in Brazil for study abroad). I had completely forgotten about that ski trip until I saw that billboard. It's been probably 15 years since I've seen him so it was strange to see his big smiling face on a billboard on I-45. So I guess the point to the story is, if you ever get into an accident with an 18-wheeler in Houston - call Michael!
We have another t-ball game tomorrow bright and early at 8:30am. So I guess I better head out and try to get some sleep. Have a great weekend!

We did go to Katz's for dinner tonight and it was great. I had the ruben (their signature sandwich) and it was very good. taylor had pancakes, Carey a ceasars salad, and Will chicken strips. All was very good. Will ate 3 of those pickles before he even got his food. He loves pickles, and we love watching the faces he makes while eating them. we will definately go back. Thanks for the heads up on a great place to eat. We always knew it was there, just never thought of trying it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
