CPSIA - what?
Have you ever bought a used toy from a friend, made a trip to Kid-to-Kid or some other resale shop, accepted a handmade burp cloth or other handmade baby item? Or do you make some of these items or sell your kids clothes and toys to resale shops or in garage sales? Then you need to hop on over here to this post on Rocks in My Dryer and read about the CPSIA law that will go into effect on Feb 10, 2009.
*Update
I noticed this post in the comments section, so I guess it doesn't apply to the used items anymore, but still the new handmade ones:
There have been some changes and clarifications because of the outcry (some info can be found here: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09086.html and here: http://familyclassroom.net/BookBan0210.html) but at this point, though the law no longer affects sellers of used articles (though they are NOT allowed to resell anything that has been recalled--which means keeping up to date with THAT mess) it still affects those who MAKE new items, and is still a problem. posted by Heather on Sunday, January 11, 2009
