No More Tears!

Do you ever catch yourself spewing words out of your mouth and you can't stop them but you know that you don't want to be saying them and you don't intend to be saying them but they just keep coming? Ugh. And even when you know that you don't want to say them, you don't stop? Why do we do the things we don't want to do??? We end up hurting those we love without intending to, scaring (and scarring) our children for no apparent reason and getting all worked up over nonsense.

The nonsense in my house this evening was bathtime. I think the reason I 'lost it' was because we've had a little trouble with bathtime the past few nights and I have had it. If there had been a hose in my bathroom I would have just turned it on high and sprayed them down and been done with it. Unfortunately there is no fire hose in my bathroom. First they fought over Dora and Diego. Why those toys tonight I don't know - they haven't played with the Dora and Diego bath toys in MONTHS. Then Katie decides to lay down and gets in Kyle's way. I told her to sit up but she didn't listen. He pulled her hair. So the tears start flowing. 10 minutes later she still hadn't gotten her hair wet...after I had said it three (or more) times. So I give her some shampoo and she spends 5 minutes lathering up her hands and then forgets that it's for her hair and rinses her hands off. That's when Mommy lost it. I ended up shampooing her hair - she got a really good shampoo - the kind you get at the salon where they get it really soapy and work it in with their nails. I think it kind of scared her because she started crying. I'm pretty sure the reason bathtime ended last night without clean hair was because she started crying. Oh and the night before too. We've had lots of tears during bathtime this week. Mommy is tired of all the crying!

So Mommy had to leave and turned the chaos over to Daddy who handled it very well. Thank you for my sanity break...

Oh sister - I hear you, and I've SO been there . . . .

I hate to find humor in your misery, but when you have been there and done that I guess you find humor in the fact that someone else is going thru it to. Not to mention the way you write in your blog has always been quite compellingly funny to me anyway.

Seriously though, when we tell Will its bathtime he immediatley goes into the cry mode, then he stops once hes in and is happy as a guppy splashing all around making things as wet as he can. Then when he is taken out he goes right back into cry mode again. Seems as though our kids just come pre-programmed that way.

We are excited about next weekend, and of course Taylor is excited about this weekend. Can't wait to see you guys.

Oh yeah, Happy New Year by the way!
